February is “I Love to Read” month at VVMS

There are many strategies that our reading teachers have utilized to create a strong reading culture at our middle school.  One strategy has been to have teachers post this poster and then update it with the book(s) they are currently reading and have read this year.  This has been a great conversation starter with our students and among staff.

Right now our 6th graders are reading Fire from the Rock and our 7th graders are reading Code Orange!  Over the summer our students read Crash, Point Blank and Red Kayak to prepare for the school year.

Two things that I am doing to promote reading is I have started my own Goodreads site and I added a Recommended Books page to my website to share out all the many books that I enjoy reading. You can check it our at https://www.goodreads.com/NaidaGN .

Finally, I am looking forward to our staff treat day on Friday, Feb. 28 with an I Love to READ theme!  The Reading PLC is offering book recommendations and treats that go with our books!
